Assignment #4 D. Haun
In the article "States and Cities in Scramble for Stimulus Cash" by Monica Davey for the New York Times gives the reader a moderately detailed glimpse of information regarding what some states may or may not do with funds from the recently passed Stimulus Bill. The article is an informative one published for anyone who wants to get a better understanding of how things may or may not shape up with the spreading of these funds from state to state. May or may not is a pretty relevant phrase because at this stage in the game and as reflected in the article it is anyone's guess as to how this whole thing is going to shape up. When reading this article the reader kind of gets a view of how truly complicated the spreading of funds-what amount goes where and for what-will be. It also touches on how our great (cough) competent (cough cough) Gov. Mark Sanford says he will not take any money.. but I read somewhere else I think an article from the Associated Press that he changed his mind. Regardless, just because of the fact that he at one time or still does refuse any stimulus money shows he is.. hard-headed. My criticism is not just because of the fact that he and I are on different political ideologies that are light-years away from one another; but if your state needs help and of all people the GOVERNOR refuses that help for some reason I'm sure only he understands is just RIDICULOUS. But all-in-all I enjoyed reading this article. It just shows the future of this country is going to be very interesting.
