The State newspaper held an article written by Cindi Ross Scoppe which was published January 22, 2009. This article was published in the Opinion section of the paper. The title of the article is “Government has to make choices families, businesses don’t.” The first opinion that popped into my head about this article was the tough and major changing decisions that the government of America has to make. When the government makes decisions it affects everyone. No matter what decisions are made everyone cannot be pleased. It would be a miracle if things could be done to where everyone is happy.
With this American downfall its hard which decisions to make. Is it better for families or business? How come when fewer people have more money they turn around and lay people off? The more people have less money there is less or no layoffs. There is not just one solution to helping our economic rise up. Like in the Great Depression many people will suffer great losses such as their jobs, cars, and houses. Families think about whets right for their family just as spending money in certain areas and saving as much money as they can. Business have to think about we are losing money when need to lay more people off to cover the lost. However, if the government thought like the families and business do America would be in more trouble than it is now!
All those people who blame the government for the economic down fall and all the wrong decisions are the audience of this article. The author is trying to point out there is not right way to handle this major problem that everyone agrees upon. It’s better to give then to receive and the government cannot give everyone what they want there is not the time nor the money. Americans need to understand there is not one solution that will help everyone. America is one nation and the Americans need to come together and be like a nation and help America rebuild all together. No matter what decisions are made by the government someone is going to get hurt. Let’s hope it’s not the lower classes that get hurt more than they are ready do!! Overall, the author is stating her opinions and showing how she believes in our government. She believes just as much as I do that the government will figure something out and help America out of this economic downfall.
