Assignment #2 S.Nelson

This article was wrote on January 22, 2009 and appeared in the State Newspaper. The author is Cindy Scoppe, who is the Associate Editor. Her first statement is so true. Government spending is always compared to families or businesses. It is hard to compare the two. Our government is working on ways to help the everyday family. Right now the issue is all of the Americans that are losing their jobs are expected to go out and spend to help our economy. It is hard to accomplish that when you have to pay the mortgage or the power bill. In the article Cindy does mention the choices that our government faces, is it better to raise taxes or lower taxes, and is it better for more people to have less money or less people to have more money. I know that the company that I work for a put a salary freeze in effect so that no more jobs have to be cut during these hard times. Some employees are upset but knowing that the person beside me has a job is OK with me. This article is intended for everyone. With the unknown ahead it is important that we all stay up to date on current events. If they take money from our school that will affect our children, if we lose our jobs that will affect us and our families. It will take some time but hopefully our government will realize what is important and take other steps to get our spending on track.
