Assignment #1 D, Haun

The article entitled 'Radical in the White House" by Thomas L. Friedman for The New York Times and is about the recent election and inauguration of the 43rd president Barack Obama. This was definitely an informative commentate article. He writes about how times have changed in America when for the first time ever a black man has been elected president of the United States. The article also discusses the current state of the Union and how it is one of extreme problems and potentially extreme solutions and how it is going to take a president capable of taking extreme measures to fix things. Mr. Friedman states that he hopes that President Obama is a closet radical because radical action is need to fix Americas dire problems. The author also says these big problems often spawn big solutions; solutions that often turn things upside down but in big positive ways. The author feels our current president has massive potential and how Obama cannot waste any time with his presidency but only time will tell what he will do and how he will do overall.
