Assignment #3 S.Nelson

The article Trade-Offs in the Stimulus Package, was published in CQ Today Online News. The article was published in February 4, 2009. The author was Madison Powers, who is a guest columnist. I think that this article was wrote for all Americans, mainly the poor and middle class. They will be the ones who benefit from this stimulus package the most. Powers says that there are two trade offs that are of special significance. One is between goals of efficiency and ideals of equity and the other is the need to strike a balance between infrastructure and other activities that also stimulate economic growth. Everyone has their own ideas of what is going to help our economy and our citizens don't really care how it gets done as long as they get the help that they need. Our country needs better unemployment benefits, families need food stamps, and people need health care. As Powers says " the multiple dimensions of the problems that we face may require us to think small and act in hundreds or even thousands of undramatic ways." We must take care of the little things before the big picture can piece itself together.
